This service establishes that a cosmetic is safe on skin and that an essential oil is what the label says it is. Heavy metals, banned ingredients, microbiology and preservative efficacy cover the safety side, while GC-MS profiling compares an oil's constituent ratios against the ISO standard for that species.
Registering an imported cosmetic with CDSCO
Launching a new cream, shampoo, soap or colour cosmetic
Verifying an essential oil consignment for adulteration or dilution
Proving a preservative system works over a product's shelf life

How the analysis runs
Instrumentation and controls
Every batch runs with the controls its method requires, on calibrated equipment, and a second analyst reviews the data before the report is released.

Questions we get asked
Is my essential oil adulterated?
A GC-MS profile against the ISO standard for that oil shows the marker constituent ratios and picks up synthetic or diluent additions.
How long does preservative efficacy testing take?
Twenty-eight days, set by ISO 11930. Plan it into your launch timeline rather than treating it as a final check.
Can you test SPF in the laboratory?
We carry out in-vitro SPF and UVA support testing. In-vivo SPF determination is co-ordinated through a partner facility.
What does an adulterated essential oil look like on GC-MS?
Marker constituent ratios fall outside the ISO range for that species, and synthetic or diluent peaks appear that should not be present.
