This service measures the chemistry and microbiology of a water sample against the standard that applies to its use: IS 10500 for drinking water, IS 14543 for packaged water, and consent conditions for effluent. Results state each parameter next to its permitted limit, so conformity is visible at a glance.
Applying for or renewing a BIS licence for packaged drinking water
Filing periodic effluent or groundwater results with the pollution board
Commissioning a new borewell, RO plant or treatment unit
Investigating taste, odour, colour or a health complaint

Questions we get asked
Which panel do I need for a BIS packaged water licence?
The full IS 14543 panel including radioactivity and pesticide residues. We issue it in the format BIS asks for.
Can you collect the sample?
Yes. Our sampling team draws and seals samples on site so the chain of custody holds up.
How soon must the sample reach you?
Microbiology within 24 hours, chilled. Chemical parameters within 48 to 72 hours depending on the analyte. Send it the same day you draw it.
Which bottle should I use?
Sterile glass for microbiology, clean plastic for general chemistry, and amber glass filled to the brim for organics. We supply bottles on request.
How often does a packaged water plant need to test?
BIS requires daily in-house checks and periodic third-party testing. We usually see plants send a full IS 14543 panel monthly.
