Kjeldahl nitrogen analyser
Primary technique on this service
14,000 sq. ft.
Integrated laboratory in Jaipur
This service profiles what a feed delivers to the animal, measuring protein, fat, fibre, ash and minerals, and checks for the contamination and adulteration that erode that value. Aflatoxin and non-protein nitrogen are the two findings that most often explain poor performance in the shed.
Accepting an incoming lot of oil cake, maize or a feed ingredient
Formulating a new compound feed and verifying the finished analysis
Investigating a drop in growth, milk yield or egg production
Meeting a BIS specification or a buyer's intake standard
What we test on this service
Panels are built from the list below. Tell us the market and the specification and we select the parameters it calls for rather than selling you the whole sheet.
Crude protein, fat, fibre, ash, moisture, nitrogen free extract
Calcium, phosphorus, salt, trace minerals
Aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxins
Urea, sand and silica adulteration
Salmonella and total viable count
Amino acid and vitamin assays
Method
How the analysis runs
Instrumentation and controls
Every batch runs with the controls its method requires, on calibrated equipment, and a second analyst reviews the data before the report is released.

Questions we get asked
Can you check whether a batch has been adulterated with urea?
Yes. Urea, sand, silica and non-protein nitrogen are a standard adulteration panel for feed and oil cakes.
How do I draw a representative sample from a large lot?
Take small increments from at least ten bags spread across the lot, mix them thoroughly, then quarter down to one kilogram.
Will you flag an ingredient substitution?
Where a declared ingredient has been swapped for a cheaper one, the proximate and mineral profile usually shows it. We report what the numbers indicate.
How often should incoming lots be tested?
Every lot for aflatoxin on maize and groundnut cake, and every third or fourth lot for the full nutritional panel on stable suppliers.
